We are pleased to provide an overview of last week’s Christmas Social, held in partnership between the Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce and Dumbarton Football Club. The event proved to be an exceptional evening, characterised by warm hospitality, festive refreshments, and a strong sense of community engagement.

Guests enjoyed mulled wine, hot chocolate with a signature Mile-High cream topping, seasonal treats, and informal networking in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We were honoured by the attendance of key representatives from Dumbarton FC, including Frank McKeown, Cameron Watson, Brian Welsh, and Gail Sneddon, as well as members of the Chamber Board: President Mary Ann Smith, Vice President Malcolm Cannon, and Directors and Associate Directors Ashlee Lally, Louise Ewing, Roger Darkins, Paul Kingham, and John Paul Lusk. We were also delighted to welcome delegates from nearly 30 local businesses whose participation greatly enriched the evening.

A guided tour of the recently upgraded Marbill Coaches Stadium — still affectionately known as The Rock — offered insight into the contributions of local businesses in shaping the venue, its identity, and its hospitality provisions. A particular highlight was the opportunity to view one of the oldest football trophies in existence, proudly displayed in the Club’s boardroom, reflecting the rich heritage of Dumbarton FC.

Guests were also briefed on the Club’s forward strategy, including the development of a new women’s team, for which name suggestions are welcomed, and wider ambitions for continued progress both on and off the pitch.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening occurred during our visit to the players’ locker room, where newly appointed Club Manager Frank McKeown delivered an inspiring address. His reflections on leadership, shared purpose, and the parallels between football and business resonated strongly with all those present.

The event reaffirmed a clear message: Dumbarton is not simply a place to pass through, but a community shaped by collaboration, pride, and collective ambition.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who attended and contributed to this successful gathering.
